ATVs

ATV´s are available everywhere and range from professional, well-maintained fleets to dubious operators on shoestring budgets. Stick with a reputable company that has a good reputation for being eco-friendly. Some tours pass through residential areas so try to keep your speed, noise and the dust down. Practice common sense and remember all motorized equipment is illegal on the beach and dangerous to our fragile ecosystem!

Best place for an ATV adventure? Desert Park at the Cabo Real Resort. Lead by experienced guides, you´ll take an amazing 25-mile journey through the resort´s ecological reserve, a network of connecting trails crossing arroyos, traversing mountains and narrow canyons. Trails are well marked and completely away from public roads. Speeds are kept low with many stops to drink in the stunning Sea of Cortez view and gorgeous countryside. Tours are three to five hours long.

Horseback Riding

There´s no greater sense of freedom than galloping through the surf on a fine mount and there are several first rate stables in the area, for riders of all levels. Desert and beach rides are available.

Hiking

Los Cabos offers an incredible range of hiking opportunities, from long, empty beaches, to desert and mountain challenges. Hiking is best from November to June, when temperatures are cooler. Regardless, any time of the year it´s best to start early. A desert hike is most interesting since you´ll get a first hand chance to see wildlife, like birds of prey, jackrabbits, coyotes and the occasional large cat. Guided tours are available for day hikes and more challenging overnight journeys into the majestic and formidable La Laguna Mountains. A popular hike is to the Hot Springs near Santiago, a small village about an hour from Los Cabos on the main highway, north of San Jose del Cabo.

Jeep and Hummer Tours

Exploring the desert by Jeep or H2 Hummer can be easily arranged, with different itineraries to choose from. Plan to spend the day gaping at awesome desert scenery, as you wind your way through old ranch roads in the outback, north of San Jose del Cabo. Tours also take you through the Los Naranjos pass, an extreme adventure no thrill seeker should miss.
