MARINAS IN LOS CABOS AND LA PAZ.- Excellent conditions and incredible scenery have long made the Sea of Cortez a favorite of sailors and yachtsmen. If you are planning to arrive in Los Cabos by boat, both Los Cabos and La Paz, the state capital 120 miles north of Cabo San Lucas, have excellent marina facilities. Marina Puerto Los Cabos is two miles east of San Jose del Cabo in Pueblo La Playa (La Playita), the 400-slip private Puerto Los Cabos marina is under construction and scheduled to open in early 2006. When complete, the marina will feature a fuel dock, Port Captain and Customs and Immigration services, sportfishing docks, dry stack storage, ferry terminal, and full marina supplies and services. Slips will be available for vessels from 30 to 150 or longer if required, with daily, weekly or long-term rentals. The marina will provide first-class reception and full-service facilities to private yachts of all sizes. Stay one night or enjoy a long-term lease. Puerto Los Cabos marina facilities will also include an Island Boutique Hotel with Private Beach Club, restaurants and retail shops and a seafood marketplace.
MARINA DE LA PAZ.- The port of La Paz has provided a safe harbor for mariners since it was first visited by Hernan Cortez in 1535. Marina de La Paz is located within walking distance of downtown La Paz and offers slips from 30' to 70' with side-tie capacity of up to 200 , 110/30 amp and 220/50 amp A/C electrical services with standard twist-lock plug ins. Chandleries, yacht maintenance and marine services, sail and rigging repairs, diesel and outboard mechanics, carpenters, refrigeration specialists, electronics technicians, and full-service boatyards are all available in La Paz.

BAJA FERRIES.- Ferry service is available daily to and from La Paz to Mazatlan and Topolobampo on the Mexican mainland. The Ferry Dock is located at Pichilingue Terminal, west of La Paz City, two-hours north of Los Cabos by road.
The ferry to Mazatlan (SEMATUR) departs daily at 3:00 p.m. and arrives in Mazatlan at approximately 8 a.m. The return ferry departs Mazatlan at 3 p.m. daily and arrives in La Paz at approximately 8 a.m. The uncomfortable trip is about 15 to 17 hours depending upon wind, weather, and currents. Once your vehicle is stowed below, you will not be allowed access, so bring your important belongings on deck with you.
From Topolobampo (BAJA FERRIES)
To La Paz, the trip is a just over five hours, leaving Topolobampo at midnight. The return ferry departs La Paz at 4 p.m. and sails back to Topolobampo. This is a newer and faster ferry. Like SEMATUR once your vehicle is stowed below, you will not be allowed access, so bring your important belongings on deck with you.
