Unlike the U.S. and Canada where people pride themselves on coming directly to the point, Mexican culture dictates otherwise. Asking after a person´s health, his or her family, and spending a few minutes socializing is polite in Mexican society. You´ll find just about anyone will gladly assist you if you take a few extra minutes to socialize.
Dress Codes and Decorum
While Los Cabos is a relaxed and casual destination where you can dress as you please, save body-baring swimsuits for the beach areas. Although pretty much anything goes in Cabo San Lucas, respect the local customs and cover up in banks, offices, grocery stores, government buildings, and anywhere you run the risk of offending locals. It is considered extremely rude to wear beach attire while visiting churches, museums, and private homes. In more traditional San Jose del Cabo, always cover up in town. That goes for men, too: pack a t-shirt or sport shirt with you; bare bellies belong on the beach, not in the bank.

Siesta
Taking a siesta (afternoon rest) is a Mexican tradition. Some businesses and offices close anywhere from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., more so in San Jose del Cabo, reopening until 7 p.m. or later.
Tipping and Asking for the Check
Tipping, like back home, is usually 10-15 % of the bill at restaurants and bars. Tip bellboys, maids, etc., depending on the service. In restaurants, it´s considered poor manners to present the check until it´s requested. Ask for la cuenta, por favor and your bill will be delivered to you.
