Shopping in San Jose del Cabo
If you´re looking for a more subdued shopping experience, San José del Cabo is the place. Colonial in style with a smaller downtown than Cabo San Lucas, it has a delightful historic area with enough shopping to pass a lazy afternoon.
On Boulevard Mijares, San Jose del Cabo´s main street, silver stores are the main attraction, but that´s not all San Jose has in store. Stroll around the main square, Plaza Mijares, and you´ll discover fabulous collections of one of a kind arts and crafts, textiles, collectibles, and fine art. Known as the place for fine art in Los Cabos, most of San Jose´s galleries are a few blocks away from the main square, behind the historic church. During the high season, galleries and artist´s studios hold Thursday night art walks, with everything from abstract to contemporary to representational art in many mediums.
Lodged in heritage buildings along with trendy bistros and restaurants, downtown San Jose´s gallery district is the hip place to shop, stop for a drink, or catch a fine meal.
Favorite shops and galleries in San Jose include Veryka, La Mina, Copal, Casa Paulina, Amigos Cigar Shop, ADD, Joaquin Pineda Gallery, pez gordo gallery, ida victoria fine arts, and Old Town Gallery. San Jose also has an authentic French bakery, The French Riviera, and lovely courtyard restaurants like Damiana, Tequila, La Panga, and Baan Thai. Once you discover this hidden gem, you´ll want to spend more time discovering the many charms of this lovely colonial oasis.
