Cabo´s main shopping area is Marina Boulevard, from Plaza Bonita to Hotel Tesoro Los Cabos. The streets between Marina Boulevard and Lazaro Cardenas, running two or three blocks up to the main square, are also good for shopping.

Best buys are on jewelry, hand-blown glass, and arts and crafts. If you´re looking for specialty items like Talavera pottery, stick to the better boutiques. You´ll find imitation Talavera everywhere, especially at the markets and souvenir stands. You'll know real Talavera pottery by its higher price, intricate detail, and quality workmanship.

Mexican silver is everywhere in Cabo. Most of the better silver in Los Cabos is from Taxco, a colonial city renowned for its top quality silver. Cheap silver is sold in souvenir stores, outdoor markets, and by beach and street vendors. While the price may sound good, look for the sterling or .925 mark and save those big purchases for a specialty store with a good reputation.

While Cabo is not known for fine art, there are a few galleries worth seeking out. Sergio Bustamente in Plaza Bonita, Golden Cactus Gallery at Guerrero and Madero, and several galleries inside Puerto Paraiso are your best bets.

For clothing and beachwear, there are lots of shops to choose from. For something unique, Tropica and Magic of the Moon sell handmade designs made in Cabo. For a bigger selection of resort wear from well known chains, head to Puerto Paraiso.

Cabo San Lucas is also a cruise ship port of call. On days when there´s more than one ship in the bay, downtown Cabo can get a little crazy. The largest arts and crafts market is on the marina boardwalk south of Tesoro Los Cabos, near the main dock. When passengers disembark, the market´s crowded, so save yourself the trouble and wait for a better time to browse.
